Brisbane- A. Raptis & Sons Group, Australia’s largest wild-caught prawn operation and one of the country’s leading seafood businesses, has entered voluntary administration after a challenging season severely impacted its operations.
Administrators from FTI Consulting were appointed on Friday to the group’s seven entities, which include A. Raptis & Sons, Raptis Fishing Licences, Harvest Seafood Australia, A.G. Raptis (Karumba), Todreel, Raptis Engineering, and Athanasios Raptis.
Based in Brisbane, the company operates a fleet of commercial fishing vessels across northern and southern Australian waters. It supplies wild-caught seafood—including prawns, crabs, and other species—to retail chains, food service providers, wholesalers, and export markets.
FTI Consulting’s Ben Campbell, one of the appointed administrators, confirmed the group faced significant difficulties due to a poor prawn season in 2025. “The business was hampered by a poor prawn season last year, which prompted the difficult decision to sell,” Campbell said.
